Mental Illness in Children

Mental health illness in children has been rising since many years which have brought a vast change in the mental health of the children. There are many reasons which cause mental illness to these children. Some of them are problems in family, bullying at school, problems with aging or anti aging, or fear from terrorism. There is a rise in the number of children who are suffering from mental disorder. Depression is the most common disorder among them. Today 1 in 10 children suffers from some or the other mental health problems.

Depression among children is undiagnosed or untreated because it is confused with the normal childhood or teenage behavior. Mental illness of young children is reflected in their academic performance and their behavior. Their behavior becomes irritated and anxious. They often refuse to go to school and become aggressive. This can be because of improper nutrition given to the child. It changes the chemistry of the mind of the child. Giving him a balanced diet would help a lot. Parents should keep a record of the behavior of the child and talk to them about behaving properly at home and socially. They should encourage them in doing various activities and praise their talents and strengths but also not to overdo them. Doing this can help a lot in children’s moral support.
