You can now get your teeth whitened in less then one hour now days. This is a procedure usually performed by your local dentists. This is done by the help of a gel which applied on the teeth and treated by a specialized xenon halogen rayed light machine. The gel is available in two forms, powder and liquid. These two forms are mixed proportionally to form a hydrogen-peroxide compounded gel which contains approximately 34% of hydrogen peroxide. The basis of this procedure is the gel which contains hydrogen peroxide which acts as a tooth whitening agent and a stain removing agent in silver, iodine, copper and manganese stains.

The light when placed correctly emits blue and red colored light rays of wavelength somewhat between 405nm to 580nm which helps in activation of this gel and help in tooth whitening process. Other light machines used are LED (light emitting diode).the advantage of this procedure is that it produces very small amount of heat and is very convenient to the patient.
